LARKANA: Chairman Sindh National Front Sardar Mumtaz Ali Bhutto accused Punjab for illegally lifting irrigation water from Chashma and Taunsa link canals.
Talking to the visitors in Mirpur Bhutto on Saturday, he said Punjab had rejected President’s orders of closing these canals and added Punjab by constructing 19 barrages on River Indus had seized complete control over water. Now water in Indus could hardly reach Kotri instead of the sea.
He said that after centre’s defeat in Judges Case on 15 March Punjab had come out of the control of constitution and government. He claimed that federal government had lost its writ in Punjab, NWFP and Balochistan while in Sindh the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had seized full control of affairs in Sindh Assembly. The PPP could not hold head high before the MQM, he said, adding that despite efforts it had failed to see the restoration of commissioner system and admission to the sons of soil in the educational institutions in Karachi. He said the MQM chief Altaf Hussain had now announced for the Sindh’s division and warned Sindhis if they continued backing such government they could become aliens on their land.
